India tour of Sri Lanka: The Gautam Gambhir era has officially started with the Indian team flying out to Sri Lanka for a six-match long white ball series. India will play 3 T20Is and 3 ODIs in the island nation in the supervision of Gautam Gambhir. The former India player and the winner of the 2007 and 2011 World Cup winner has taken over from Rahul Dravid as Team India's main man.

All Is Well Between SKY And Hardik

When the Bord of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) announced India's T20I team for the Sri Lanka tour, everybody was surprised and flabbergasted by the Hardik Pandya snub. After Team India won the T20 World Cup on June 29, 2024, Rohit Sharma announced his retirement from the T20Is and it was assumed that Pandya was the next in the line to become India's T20I captain. It certainly did not seem like a vague idea as Hardik was India's vice-captain throughout their T20 World Cup campaign.

After Suryakumar Yadav was made India's T20I skipper, fictional stories started to float about a glaring rift in the Indian camp. Hardik Pandya and Suryakumar Yadav have now put all of it to rest as both the India and Mumbai Indians teammate shared a warm hug before boarding the flight to Sri Lanka.

India's Transition Phase To Be Tested In Lanka

Gautam Gambhir, in his first press conference as Team India Head Coach clearly admitted the fact that Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma and Ravindra Jadeja can't be replaced easily, not in the T20I format to be precise. The India Head Coach also said that the Indian team is in transition in T20Is and the team has to play well. Gautam Gambhir's Team India, a group in transition will face their first litmus test in spinning Sri Lankan conditions. India are the World T20 Champions and they will like to retain their title in the next edition too, but that will take and require a lot of work.
