Champions Trophy 2025: The much-anticipated Champions Trophy clash between India and Pakistan is looming on the horizon. Both teams shared a very passionate rivalry over the years and that has reflected on the ground as this particular match has witnessed a lot of spectacular moments in the recent past.

Pakistan have endured a poor run against India at ICC events recently. They lost to the ‘Men In Blue’ in the ICC ODI World Cup 2023 on Indian soil followed by a narrow defeat to their archrivals last year in the ICC T20 World Cup.

But in the last edition of the Champions Trophy, Pakistan got the better of India in the summit clash to end their prolonged drought for an ICC title. This time the ‘Men In Green’ didn’t have the perfect start as they lost to New Zealand by 60 runs in the opening encounter.

India Defeated Bangladesh To Launch A Perfect Start

On the other side, India crushed Bangladesh by six wickets to flex their muscles ahead of the big-ticket clash. Despite the absence of Jasprit Bumrah, Mohammed Shami and Harshit Rana ran through the Bangladesh batting lineup and they will be up against Pakistan in Dubai on Sunday.

Former Pakistan spinner Danish Kaneria feels India’s performance in the England ODI series will make them a favourite in the match. The home side thrashed Jos Buttler's side 3-0 to warm up in style for the ICC marquee event.

EX-Pakistan Spinner Backs India In High-voltage Clash

In an interaction with IANS he said, "After the debacle in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy in Australia, India defeated England in the white-ball series at home. They got their confidence back as Rohit, Virat scored runs while Shami also returned to the team and silenced critics with his bowling and bags fifer against Bangladesh.”

Both Axar Patel and Ravindra Jadeja will likely play a major role in the match against Pakistan on Sunday. Kaneria further highlighted Babar Azam’s weakness against left-arm spinners which could be a key battle between both teams.

‘India have better spinners and Babar Azam struggles against left-arm spinners. How will he tackle Ravindra Jadeja and Axar Patel. On the other hand, Pakistan don't have a good spinner and we've seen Virat and other batters struggle against the leg-spinner. The match is very big but Pakistan don't have any chance of winning the match on February 23.’

Eight teams will be vying for that coveted Champions Trophy 2025 title. Teams have been divided into two groups and top two of each group will advance to the semifinals.
