India vs Aus T20I: Indian players-led by Virat Kohli wear black armbands; observe two-minutes silence in honour of Pulwama terror attack CRPF martyrs

The Indian cricket team and the visitors Australia paid their homage to the martyrs of the Pulwama terror attack by observing two minutes of silence at the first T20I match at the Dr. Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy stadium in Andhra Pradesh's Visakhapatnam.

Furthermore, the Men in Blue led by skipper Virat Kohli wore black armbands as a mark of respect in the memory of the CRPF jawans, who were martyred in the dastardly terror attack in Pulwama which was perpetrated by Pakistan-backed JeM terrorists on February 14.

Meanwhile, several members of the Indian cricket fraternity, including Harbhajan Singh and Sourav Ganguly have called for India to boycott the 2019 World Cup game against Pakistan, which is scheduled for June 16 in Manchester.

Amid the mounting pressure on BCCI in the matter team India captain Virat Kohli on Saturday put the onus on the BCCI and the government on the decision. While addressing a press conference, Kohli was asked for his stand in the wake of the Pakistan-backed Pulwama terror attack, to which he said:

"Firstly, all our sincere condolences to the families of the soldiers who lost their lives, from the Indian team and the whole setup, we're really shocked about what happened and really sad about the incident that happened. Our stand is simple. We stick by what the Nation wants to do and what the BCCI decides to do, and that is basically our opinion. Whatever the government and the board decide eventually, we will go by that and we will respect that. So that is our stand on this particular issue."

BCCI has decided to not hold the IPL opening ceremony and instead use the budget to benefit the families of the Pulwama martyrs.
