Rishabh Pant's MONSTROUS 107-Metre Six of Tim Southee Goes Out of Chinnaswamy in Bengaluru | WATCH
India vs New Zealand: In his 90s, Rishabh Pant hit a monstrous 107-metre six off Tim Southee at M. Chinnaswamy.
Very few cricketers would have the audacity to hit a six in their 90s, but young Rishabh Pant is different. In his 90s, Pant slog swept Tim Southee for a monstrous 107-metre six at the M. Chinnaswamy stadium in Bengaluru on Saturday. The six took the ball out of the park, literally - that is how big it was. When Pant hit the six, India had already polished off the deficit and were leading. With the six, Pant reached 96. KL Rahul , who was at the non-striker's end, was in awe of the six as his reaction explains it all. Most of the NZ players were also stunned.
Meanwhile, Pant departed shortly after that monster six. The young wicketkeeper batter departed for 99. His innings was laced with five sixes and nine fours. William ORourke picked up the crucial wicket of Pant. It was an important wicket for the New Zealand side because the young left-handed batter was taking the game away from the Kiwis. Sarfaraz Khan also hit his maiden Test century and it was a timely ton. India was reeling when Sarfaraz walked out to bat and then he stitched a couple of crucial partnerships - first with Virat Kohli and then with Pant to put India in the box seat. Sarfaraz was eventually dismissed for a brilliant 150.
At the time of filing the copy, India were 438 for six with a lead of 82 runs. Ravi Ashwin and Ravindra Jadeja were in the middle with tea time nearing. With NZ having to bat last, it seems like India have some control over the game at this point of time. But again, one has to realise there is a lot of time still left in the game.
