The New era of Indian Cricket is well and truly underway as BCCI secretary Jay Shat at 19:57 hours on Tuesday evening announced that Gautam Gambhir will take over as the new head coach of Indian Cricket Team.
Gautam Gambhir takes over as the new head coach of Team India from Rahul Dravid who departed following the team's T20 World Cup 2024 triumph.
As, the Gautam Gambhir era for Team India begins, the Indian Cricket World was left shaken upon the bombshell announcement.

What did Gautam Gambhir and Jay Shah say about the Appointment?
BCCI secretary Jay Shah was over the moon to announce Gautam Gambhir as the new head coach for Team India.
“Modern-day cricket has evolved rapidly, and Gautam has witnessed this changing landscape up close. Having endured the grind and excelled in various roles throughout his career, I am confident that Gautam is the ideal person to steer Indian Cricket forward,” said Jay Shah in his statement.
Gautam Gambhir was super proud to be the head coach of Indian Cricket Team and wrote on X, “India is my identity and serving my country has been the greatest privilege of my life. I’m honoured to be back, albeit wearing a different hat. But my goal is the same as it has always been, to make every Indian proud”.
Gautam Gambhir's first big assignment as the head coach of Team India will be steering the side to success in the massive Border Gavaskar Trophy against Australia in Australia. Gambhir will form the partnership with captain Rohit Sharma as they look to scale new heights in Champions Trophy in 2025 and World Test Championship in 2025.
