The KKR vs RCB game at Eden Gardens was interrupted by a pitch invasion. A fan breached the security cordon at the Eden Gardens to touch Virat Kohli 's game during the IPL 2025 opener which forced the game to come to a halt.
The incident happened on the 13th over in the second innings when RCB were chasing KKR's 174. The supporter came straight at the crease and fell into his feet. Security stuff were quick to escort the fan away and the match was resumed. Virat went on to score a brilliant half-century as RCB defeated KKR to start their IPL 2025 campaign on a winning note.
Virat was pretty poised as the scenario unfolded and maintained his calm throughout. The fan also shared a hug with the 36-year-old before security officials removed him.
Coming to the match, Rajat Patidar won the toss and decided to bowl first. Riding on Ajinkya Rahane and Sunil Narine's dominating innings KKR looked to be on their way to a massive score. But the RCB bowlers did a wonderful job of restricting the home side to a competitive 174 runs. In reply, Phil Salt unleashed an onslaught at his former home ground as the English international scored a brilliant 31 ball 56 in his maiden RCB game. Virat and captain Patidar took the game away from the hosts with some clean hitting all over the ground.
RCB will now travel to Chennai to face CSK on March 28 while KKR will travel to Guwahati to take on the Rajasthan Royals in IPL 2025.
