Virat Kohli, MS Dhoni Ignored; Harbhajan Picks Nicholas Pooran as Greatest T20 Star After Heroics During SRH-LSG

IPL 2025: Former India great Harbhajan Singh has played a lot of cricket and has bowled to some of the biggest hitters. While he has also got smashed around the park during his playing days, Harbhajan was extremely impressed with how Nicholas Pooran struck the ball against the Hyderabad side on Thursday night. Pooran hit a breathtaking 26-ball 70 to guide his side to a five-wicket win with 23 balls to spare. Pooran's knock was laced with six sixes and six fours.

Calling Pooran the trump card, Harbhajan took to X and picked him as the best T20 batter in the world. His post on X read: “Currently, Nicholas Pooran is the best player of the T20 format. Period! @nicholas_47 ♠️ @IPL.”

‘Bit big but it feels good’

"It's a bit big but it feels good. I don't plan to hit sixes, try my best to get into good positions and try to time the ball. When the matchup is there, you try to execute your skills. The wicket was beautiful. Looking at the games before, every time you come to Hyderabad, it's big scores here," Pooran said at the post-match presentation while bagging the Player of the Match.

POORAN IS BACKBONE OF LSG

In fact, Pooran has now etched his name in LSG's history by becoming only the second player to cross the 1000-run mark for the franchise in the IPL. He has amassed 1002 from just 31 matches at a stunning average of 45.54 and a strike rate of 184.53. He also happens to be the second-highest run-getter for his team. 

Meanwhile, with the win - Lucknow zoomed upto the second spot in the points table. LSG play their next game against an in-form Punjab on April 1.
