Veteran commentator Harsha Bhogle has expressed his disappointment over the Eden Gardens' pitch curator dismissing Ajinkya Rahane's plea to make the Eden Gardens pitch friendly for the home franchise. Bhogle said he was unhappy with Sujan Mukherjee's comments and emphasized that having a home advantage in a cricket tournament was legitimate.
A huge controversy erupted after the Eden Gardens Pitch Curator boldly dismissed KKR skipper Ajinkya Rahane's plea for a pitch which provided the home team an advantage. Curator Sujan Mukherjee's remarks sparked a huge debate over teams having an advantage at their home stadiums. He had denied making any alterations on the pitch. Harsha Bhogle has jumped in on the conversation and has expressed his disdain over Mukherjee dismissing Rahane's plea.
“If I’m in the KKR camp, I’m extremely unhappy of what he said because I’m not asking for a 120 surface. I’m just saying, give me a surface where my bowlers can win matches. To say, ‘Sorry, we don’t prepare pitches like that…’ No. We are not asking you to make a 120 pitch, we are not asking you to make a 240 pitch. But I think home advantage in a tournament like IPL is absolutely legitimate. That will enhance the tournament because winning away becomes crucial then,” Harsha Bhogle exclaimed during an appearance at a Cricbuzz show.
Fans of the Kolkata Knight Riders, the three-time IPL champions, were dissatisfied with the pitch curator's response to Ajinkya Rahane, so they started the #ShameOnCAB hashtag, which quickly spread. Fans expressed their disappointment with Sujan Mukherjee on social media, and the hashtag trended.
The #ShameOnCAB campaign has continued to gain traction, and fans are refusing to back down. The voices are being heard on the social media platform 'X', and the hashtag has found a spot in the trending column and is currently the number one trend on the platform.
