Phil Salt emerged as one of the most frontline batsmen who was expected to trigger a bidding war. His latest hundred came in just 57 balls consisting of 10 sixes and 7 fours.

"I expected to be picked up, having gone there last year and done well and after the year that I've had, but these things happen. It's part of the lottery of an auction, it happens in draft processes as well. There's a few lads in our dressing room who are going to have a very good Christmas and I'm over the moon for them.

"I was a bit confused but it can happen. There's no bad cricketers on the list at the IPL. It's one of those things."

Phil Salt donned the Delhi Capitals colours last season

Riding on his blistering knock, the Three Lions defeated the Caribbean by 75 runs to draw level in the series. Salt averaged 27.25 during his stint with Delhi Capitals and recorded an impressive strike rate of 163.91. Despite his recent rich vein of form he failed to attract a team in the cash rich league. The last T20I will be played on Friday at the Brian Lara Cricket Stadium in Tarouba.
