Following the conclusion of the exhaustive ICC ODI World Cup 2023, it is the developments from the world of IPL that have once again gripped the section of cricket news. While the 17th edition of the Indian Premier League will take place at its usual time, i.e., somewhere during the second quarter of 2024, the auction of the said event is looming on the horizon. December 19, 2023, is the scheduled date of the auction and before that, all the teams have announced the players they want to keep and lose.

All set for IPL 2024 Auction

The IPL or as the knowers of the game call it, "The Cash Rich" league is all set to witness yet another auction before the much-anticipated 17th season. This time names of 590 players will be called out at the auction, and once again it will be intriguing to see who becomes the record signing. Sam Curran currently holds the title at Rs. 18.50 crore, and in the coming auction, all eyes will be on how much Rachin Ravindra fetches.

To successfully acquire a signing like that, a franchise needs to have a huge wherewithal, thus, with all the players that have been retained and released, let's take a look at how much money each team is left with.

Remaining purse of each team

On November 26, 2023, all the 10 franchises gave an outlook of their team for the upcoming IPL 2024 season. Following the culmination of the process, Royal Challengers Bangalore have emerged as the side with the highest remaining purse. A total of 40.75 crore is in RCB's account, and it is anybody's guess who they will go after this auction. After RCB, it is SRH, who have a significant sum left. The anomaly with other teams is not much as they also have an adequate amount to splurge.

  • Mumbai Indians: 15.25 Crore
  • Rajasthan Royals: 14.5 Crore
  • Lucknow Super Giants: 13.15 Crore
  • Gujarat Titans: 23.15 Crore

As per numbers highlighted on IPL's X handle more than 737 crores have already been spent and with a certain amount still left with all the teams, the already massive figure will undergo a heavy augmentation.
