Indian Premier League: After Lucknow Super Giants' (LSG) five-wicket victory over Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) in the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in Hyderabad on March 27, New Zealand cricketer and commentator Kane Williamson showered praise on Lucknow bowler Shardul Thakur for his highly effective approach against the Sunrisers.
Shardul Thakur was named the 'Player of the Match' following a four-wicket haul in his four-over spell against the hosts.
Speaking on JioHotstar, Kane Williamson said that adding Shardul Thakur at the last-minute was fantastic for the Lucknow-based franchise. The Kiwi batter heaped praise on Shardul for opening the bowling attack against the Hyderabad-based franchise and called him an ‘experienced’ international player. He further added that it was a highly effective approach from the Lucknow-based franchise in the game.
"A fantastic last-minute addition for LSG, Shardul is an experienced international player, and opening the bowling against SRH in Hyderabad is no easy task. But he came in with a solid plan, aligned with the team’s strategy, and executed it brilliantly. They bowled with variety, kept it really full, and brought in all possible modes of dismissal. It was a highly effective approach, and he did a fantastic job. Being named Man of the Match was well-deserved for such a special performance," Kane Williamson told JioHotstar.
