Mitchell Johnson hit back at Cricket Australia for inviting him to an award ceremony just days after the governing body cancelled two of his speaking engagements for his fiery and controversial column on David Warner. Johnson faced scathing criticism for his take on Warner and chief selector George Bailey. Australia are currently involved in a Test series with Pakistan.

Mitchell Johnson criticised David Warner and George Bailey

Johnson who is currently doing radio commentary with Triple M, wrote a piece on the West Australian criticising Cricket Australia's stand as he insisted Warner doesn't deserve a hero's send off for his current form and also his role in the 20818 Sandpapergate scandal. He also questioned Bailey's credibility in his column.

Cricket Australia then took note of his opinion very seriously and cancelled his two lectures during the first Test At Perth.

Mitchell Johnson took a dig at Criciekt Australia

But now Johnson came down all guns blazing on Cricket Australia for inviting him to the 2024 Australian Cricket Awards. He took to Instagram to take a dig at CA. He posted a screenshot of the invitation alongside a caption, "Is Cricket Australia serious?? Last week I was cancelled from 2 speaking engagements. This week I'm invited to celebrate with them.”

He wrote in his West Australian columns which later attracted pretty staunch disapproval from a section of former Australian cricketers. “It’s been five years and David Warner has still never really owned the ball-tampering scandal. Now the way he is going out is underpinned by more of the same arrogance and disrespect to our country. As we prepare for David Warner’s farewell series, can somebody please tell me why?"

Warner scored a brilliant 164 in the opening Test to send a strong message to Johnson. The 37 year old earlier hinted that the third and last test against Pakistan at the Sydney Cricket Ground could be his last in the long format.
