Former India cricketer turned commentator, Ravi Shastri recently made his official debut in Australia's Big Bash League (BBL) for a commentary stint. Shastri was welcomed on-air by none other than former Australia captain Aaron Finch, with whom Shastri has worked on multiple occasions in the past. Both of them worked together for the ICC during the recently concluded ODI World Cup 2023 in India.

‘King of commentary’ Ravi Shastri arrives in Australia in grand style

Before starting his new role, Ravi Shastri received a warm welcome to the commentary box from his colleagues Mark Howard and Aaron Finch, a former Australia captain and a good servant of the game. Finch affectionately referred to the ex-Indian all-rounder as "the king of commentary, the voice of cricket."

Expressing gratitude for the complimentary introduction by fellow commentators Mark Howard and Aaron Finch, Shastri acknowledged the praise. Subsequently, Finch emphasized Shastri's legendary status in the commentary world with his unflinching and dynamic style that resonates strongly with fans.

The latest edition of the Big Bash League commenced on December 7 with a match between Brisbane Heat and Melbourne Stars. The tournament will last for nearly two months with 44 matches on the cards. The final is scheduled to be held on January 24, 2024. Perth Scorchers are the defending champions having won their fifth title in 2022-23.
