KL Rahul in Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma's Shadow?

KL Rahul , despite being one of the most classy Indian batter, does not get as much limelight, like Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli is what former India cricketer Aakash Chopra reckons. With the Test series against Bangladesh coming up, Chopra has made a massive comment. Chopra feels Rahul has always been in the shadow of Rohit and Kohli. The former Indian opener also reckoned that Rahul would be in contention only if he is getting the runs. 

"I personally like KL Rahul as a player. He will have to score runs. If he keeps scoring runs, he will keep moving forward. His fate is that he will always be in the shadows of Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli . These are the big guys. I feel Rahul is super talented, super skilled," Chopra said on his YouTube channel.

"Future - he will keep playing until he keeps scoring runs. Although the team rates him very highly, an atmosphere gets created against him very quickly in Indian cricket. There are plenty of people who go after him," Chopra observed.

"So he won't get as long a rope as you would give to anyone else with the same caliber or pedigree. If it's up to me, I would definitely give it because he has scored a lot of runs and difficult runs," he stated.

Speculations Over Rahul's IPL Future

Meanwhile, there is much speculation over Rahul's IPL future after the Lucknow Super Giants did not manage to make the cut off for the playoff. It would be interesting to see if the franchise retains him or is happy to release him. Rahul, who is in the Tests and ODI scheme of things, recently featured in a Duleep Trophy match. 

Rahul will soon be seen in the upcoming Tests versus Bangladesh .
