The Pakistan National team has been going through a downward spiral, and they have been heavily at variance in their form. Be it the white ball or red ball, the team has been lacking the tenacity and grit to win the matches. With several conflicts in the Pakistan Cricket Board and among the players, the situation has been grim lately. Their recent outing at the T20 World Cup did not feel up to the mark, as the Men in Green couldn't even reach the Super 8 stage after losing to sides like the USA. With some crucial series down the line, the team needs to regroup, and PAK's Test cricket coach Jason Gillespie pinpoints the main issues of the Asian cricket giants.

Pakistan red-ball coach Jason Gillespie points down the team's issues ahead of crucial Test series

Pakistan cricket's red-ball coach Jason Gillespie touched upon the weaknesses of Pakistan's red-ball side. The coach touched upon their latest tour to Pakistan, saying that they indeed lost the series 3-0 but also dominated in some moments. He added that there is no lack of talent, but the consistency is something that they need to work it out as a whole.

"During the last tour to Australia, Pakistan lost the series 3-0, but they played well. There were moments in the series where they were also dominating the opponents. The Pakistan cricket team is very talented, but the lack of consistency in performance is the main problem. We will see how we can bring continuity and consistency in performances," the PAK test said as quoted by GeoNews.

Coach Gillespie also sees the need to have only fit and sturdy players on the Test side, as fitness is a critical aspect in modern-day cricket.

"My mantra is that we should only have fit, robust and strong players in the Test side because, in modern-day cricket of any format, fitness is a must. To me, Test cricket is always about playing it session to session and seizing the opportunity when it comes your way. Match is dictated by the opposition and conditions," Gillespie told the reporters.

Pakistan will face off against Bangladesh in a T20-match Test series, and then the Men in Green will lock horns against Test cricket giants England. PAK has a home advantage, but they need to get back in form in order to recapture their dominance in the realm of cricket.
