ICC Champions Trophy 2025: Rohit Sharma is arguably the best white-ball player of the generation and on Sunday night in Dubai, he reinstated his status as one of the best ever. Even at the twilight of his career, while there are speculations over his ODI future, Rohit hit a marvelous 76 off 83 balls to help India win Champions Trophy 2025. India beat New Zealand by four wickets to clinch the silverware.
Following the win, Congress spokesperson Shama Mohamed, who had fat-shamed Rohit, made a sensational U-turn after the side won. She hailed Rohit's leadership and congratulated the team for it's success. But despite her effort to do manage-control, she got brutally trolled. Some of the fans reckoned she was double-faced and fake - just like the Congress party, while others reckoned she should not be making such remarks.
‘Hats off to Captain’
"Congratulations to #TeamIndia for their stupendous performance in winning the #ChampionsTrophy2025! Hats off to Captain @ImRo45 who led from the front with a brilliant 76, setting the tone for victory. @ShreyasIyer15 and @klrahul played crucial knocks, steering India to glory!" she tweeted.

"Rohit Sharma is fat for a sportsman! Need to lose weight! And of course, the most unimpressive captain India has ever had!" her controversial post had read.
Here are some of the reactions that followed her Team India congratulatory post.

Meanwhile, following the win, Rohit quashed all rumours around his retirement. He clearly mentioned that he is not retiring from ODIs.
‘Koi future plan ni hai’
“Koi future plan ni hai. Jo chal ra hai wo chalega (There’s no future plan, things will keep on going as they are). I'm not going to retire from this format. Just to make sure that no rumours are spread moving forward," Rohit said at the post-match presentation.
Now that the CT is over, the focus would shift to the Indian Premier League, which starts in a fortnight.
