IPL 2025: We are less than a week away from the start of the cash-rich Indian Premier League and Lucknow Super Giants find themselves in a tricky situation already. The Giants' Indian pace unit, which features Mayank Yadav, Mohsin Khan, and Avesh Khan - have yet to get a clearance from NCA with less than a week left before the start of the 2025 season of the IPL .
With uncertainty looming large over the Indian pacers in LSG, Shardul Thakur looks to be in contention for a spot. The former CSK allrounder was spotted in the LSG nets, bowling.
If the pictures are anything to go by, Thakur is surely in the reckoning. For the unversed, Thakur went unsold at the mega auction in Jeddah. Thakur, who previously played for CSK, DC, KKR, and the presently defunct RPS, also celebrated Holi with the Super Giants players.
Thakur, who went unsold at the auction, was in good form with the ball in the domestic circuit. In Mumbai's victorious run at the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy, Thakur played a key role with the ball where he picked up 15 wickets in nine games at 24.53. Later in the Ranji Trophy, he scalped 35 wickets in nine games at 22.62.
They have a new set-up in place with a new captain and new personnel. Rishabh Pant , the most-expensive player in the history of IPL, would be leading the Super Giants.
He would be expected to do miracles for sure. The LSG side are one of the few teams to have never won the IPL silverware despite having finished third in 2022 and 2023.
In 2024, they could not even make it to the playoff and hence there was wholesale changes made to the squad.
