IPL 2025: We are exactly a night's sleep away from the start of the IPL madness. The buzz on social space, as expected, is palpable. Franchises flaunting off what's new and also a lot of activity is happening on social media, all these factors make IPL - the madness - it is. Before the season opener between Kolkata Knight Riders and Royal Challengers Bengaluru, there was some banter that happened.
During RCB's popular ‘Mr. Nags’ segment, new captain Rajat Patidar claimed that he never used to watch the RCB show. When Patidar said this, Mr. Nags cheekily twists it.
Mr. Nags asked Patidar, "So, Rajat, you became captain, all former RCB skippers have given you their approval. Like Virat messaged you, Faf messaged you. Do you think other teams also should have followed a similar strategy while announcing captaincy?"
Patidar responded, "I'm sorry, I never followed what's going on and what's not going on." Mr. Nags, with a cheeky grin, seized the moment to interpret the response in his own way, saying, “Oh, so innocent, Rajat. You really don't know? Really, I don’t know? Then why are you smiling? See, basically, he said 'MI nahi janta ‘MI.’”
Mr. Nags made ‘Main’, ‘MI’ - and that was good enough to set the social space alight.
The Patidar-led RCB side lock horns with Mumbai in IPL 2025 on April 7 at the iconic Wankhede stadium. MI have dominated RCB in head-to-head encounters, winning 19 out of their 33 IPL meetings.
RCB play the season opener against KKR at the iconic Eden Gardens in Kolkata on March 22. They would ideally like to start on a winning note. It would be interesting to see the XI they field for the opener tomorrow.
