Former cricketer VVS Laxman took to Twitter to congratulate Bihar-based farmer Rajkumari Devi, popularly known as 'Kisan Chachi', for receiving India's fourth highest civilian award, Padma Shri Award.

Former cricketer VVS Laxman took to Twitter to hail Bihar-based farmer Rajkumari Devi, popularly known as 'Kisan Chachi', for receiving India's fourth highest civilian award, Padma Shri Award.
A self-made farmer by profession, Rajkumari Devi acquired the expertise in agriculture while working on the fields in her village, which resulted in production of successful harvests.
Sharing Rajkumari Devi's story on social media, VVS Laxman, who himself is a Padma Shri recipient, posted out a series of tweets, wherein he narrated how this self-made personality took to farming after being humiliated faced by her in the family.
In another tweet, the former batsman described how the 63-year-old farmer overcame hardships in her life and emerged as an inspiration for other women.
On March 11, President Kovind conferred the Padma Shri Award to Rajkumari Devi for her stupendous contribution in Agriculture.
Along with her exceptional work in agriculture, Rajkumari Devi also runs an NGO which picks fresh produce from the nearby SHG-run (Self Help Group) which gives employment to make agriculture-based products.
Apart from Rajkumari Devi, there were nine other farmers who were honoured with the Padma Shri Award. They are:

- Kanwal Singh Chauhan
- Kamala Pujhari
- Jagdish Prasad Parikh
- Hukumchand Patidar
- Bharat Bhushan Tyagi
