'My Mentor Said Focus On...' - Rishabh Pant Hints at MS Dhoni After LSG's Win Over SRH in IPL 2025?

IPL 2025: It was a night that belonged to the Lucknow Super Giants at the Uppal. The Lucknow side thrashed Hyderabad and how. The Super Giants won the game with 23 balls to spare. LSG won the game by five wickets to also get a boost in the points table and Net Run Rate.

For the unversed, Lucknow lost their opening game of the new season against Delhi and hence the win on Thursday night was their first. But what caught the attention was Lucknow captain Rishabh Pant 's post-match speech. Pant credited his ‘mentor’ for the win. And it is no secret that Dhoni is Pant's mentor and that brings us to the question - did the latter quote the former CSK captain? 

‘Can’t focus on uncontrollables’

“Big relief, but as a team, we talk about the process. It is not about getting too high when you win and not about getting too low when you lose. As a team, we can’t focus on uncontrollables; my mentor said to focus on controllables, and that is what I did," Pant said while speaking after the match.

“Good to see the way Prince bowled, and also, Thakur was really good. I think we just want to give him (Pooran) the freedom. You’ve got to give someone the charge when he is batting well, and he has batted brilliantly for us," Pant added.

Updated IPL 2025 Standings After SRH vs LSG Clash

After the Sunrisers Hyderabad vs Lucknow Super Giants match-up, the Rishabh Pant-led side took a massive leap and reached the number two spot in the IPL 2025 standings due to their better NRR. Royal Challengers Bengaluru are currently the table toppers, with Punjab Kings, Chennai Super Kings and the Delhi Capitals at the number three, four and five spots respectively. 

LSG play their next game against Punjab and they would certainly like to continue the winning momentum. The match takes place on April 1.
