Exclusive/ 'Not That Only Virat Kohli Works Hard...' - Boxer Gaurav Bidhuri Slams BCCI's Rs 58 Cr Cash-Reward, Calls For Parity

Once the Board of Control of Cricket in India (BCCI) announced a Rs 58 cr cash-reward to Team India for winning CT 2025, it certainly irked a few sections. In a country where cricket is treated as a religion, other sporting disciplines take a back seat - and understandably so.

One has to understand that cricket generates a massive revenue. But veteran Indian boxer Gaurav Bidhuri reckons Kohli is not the only person who works hard. He believes that other sporting disciplines should get equal importance.

‘Not that only Virat Kohli works hard’ 

"It is not that only Virat Kohli works hard, we also work very hard. People should give the same love to the Olympic sports. With all due respect, representing India in major sports is much tougher than cricket," he told Republic in an exclusive interaction. 

Bidhuri also went onto suggest that it is best that the Indian cricket board comes under the purview of the Government of India. 

Kohli in Prime Form

There were question marks over his form with the bat before the Champions Trophy , but as they say ‘Cometh the hour, cometh the man’. Kohli hit an unbeaten hundred against arch-rivals Pakistan to take India over the line and that was a sublime knock which received praise from all quarters. 

Kohli will now ready up for another season of the IPL and fans would hope he can continue his good form in the IPL as well. Kohli would be, like always, be an integral part of the RCB squad for the upcoming season. 

His form could define the fortunes of RCB in IPL 2025. For the unversed, RCB happens to be one of the few franchises who are yet to win he IPL title. RCB would play the season opener on March 22 against defending champions Kolkata Knight Riders at the Eden Gardens in Kolkata.
