Joe Root cometh the hour, cometh the man as the England's finest Test batsman has once again stepped up when it mattered most for his side as he scores yet another Test hundred at Lords.
Joe Root scripted history when he smashed centuries in both innnings for England vs Sri Lanka in the second test of the series at the home of cricket. As Joe Root brought up his century in the third innings he ended up making English cricket history and breaking Alastair Cook's all time record.

When Joe Root scored his 34th Test century, he broke Alastair Cook's record of scoring the most Test Centuries for England. Alastair Cook with his 33 test centuries had held the record for scoring the most test centuries for the longest time.
It was a record that didn't feel like it would be beaten, but Joe Root's incredible run of form in the past few years means the record has now been broken. The 33-year old is now also just 5 test centuries away from becoming the player with fourth most test centuries in history of cricket.
Additionally, Joe Roo has reached his 34th test century in his 146th match at a simply stunning average of 51.14.
