‘Rishabh Has a Lot of...’: Yuvraj Singh Sees Reflections of a Legendary Australian Cricketer in Pant
Yuvraj Singh drew striking similarities between Adam Gilchrist and Rishabh Pant, the wicketkeeper. He cited Pant's enormous influence in the middle order.
The return of Rishabh Pant has been a spectacular affair. He had a spectacular time in white-ball cricket as he made his return in the IPL 2024 season and went on to make a return for Team India. Pant was a part of India's T20 World Cup -winning team, and the only thing left in the bag was his red-ball return. The India stumper returned to action in red-ball domestics and eventually made his Test return for the national side, where he displayed his resilience and tenacity. Pant's spectacular performance was applauded by Yuvraj Singh and he compared it to the legendary Australian cricketer.

During an appearance in the Club Prairie Fire Podcast, Yuvraj Singh drew massive parallels between India wicketkeeper Rishabh Pant and Australian legend Adam Gilchrist. He pointed out how Pant had a massive impact when he competed in the middle order for the Men in Blue. He also linked his style and revolutionary abilities with the legendary Australian wicketkeeper.
"Rishabh has a lot of Gilchrist in him as he comes in and changes the game when he walks in at number five and six. Actually, I mention to Pant a lot about how Gilchrist changed the middle order batting in Tests, about what his approach was. He is definitely a match winner at number five and six for us in Tests," Yuvraj Singh during his appearance.

Rishabh Pant returned to the national team after he was named in the two-match Bangladesh Test series. He was an absolute trailblazer behind the wickets, and it looked like he had never left. Pant's return was special as he scored a 109-run innings off 128 balls and had a strike rate of 85.16 during India's second innings against Bangladesh. He also slammed 13 boundaries and four sixes during his innings.
Pant will be back in action for Team India as he has been named in the 2nd Test match for the Bangladesh series. Whether or not he will be a part of the Playing XI is subject to witness.
