Indian batter Riyan Parag found himself in the spotlight during the Duleep Trophy 2024 clash between India A and India B at the Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru, but not for the right reasons. On Day 3 of the intense match, Parag, batting for India A, was dismissed for 30 by Yash Dayal, an incident that led to an outburst of frustration from the young cricketer.

Riyan Parag, who looked in decent touch, fell victim to a delivery he tried to flick to the leg-side. Unfortunately for him, he got an edge, and India A wicket-keeper Rishabh Pant completed the catch. The dismissal left Parag visibly frustrated with himself, as he stood at the crease for a few seconds, seemingly in disbelief.

Riyan Parag loses his cool

Unable to contain his anger, Riyan Parag struck his bat hard on his pad before making the long walk back to the dressing room. The incident left the commentators confused as they thought Parag was angry because of the umpire's decision.

The reaction sparked debate in the commentary box, where Laxman Sivaramakrishnan, calling the game, was left perplexed. His fellow commentator Anjum Chopra, however, clarified that Parag's frustration was directed at himself rather than the umpire's call, explaining that the young batter couldn’t believe the mistake he had made.

Riyan Parag’s dismissal added to a frustrating day for India A, as their batting lineup struggled to capitalize on a decent start. Shubman Gill, Mayank Agarwal, and KL Rahul all got starts but failed to convert them into big scores, much like Parag. By lunchtime on Day 3, India A had slumped to 210/7, putting them in a precarious position in response to India B's first innings total of 321.

Earlier, India B's innings was highlighted by a remarkable 181-run knock from Musheer Khan, who anchored the innings after his team had been reduced to 94/7. Alongside him, Navdeep Saini played a resilient hand, scoring 56 and helping India B recover to post a respectable total.
