Rohit Sharma Set For A Return To Domestic Circuit, Confirms Participation In Ranji Trophy For Mumbai

Team India Test & ODI skipper Rohit Sharma has announced that he will be a part of the Ranji Trophy tournament for Mumbai. He last played for MCA in 2015.

The Board of Control for Cricket In India [BCCI] has officially announced the squad for Team India in the ICC Champions Trophy 2025. The BCCI has also issued mandatory rules for the players to be a part of domestic cricket, and several cricketers are set to return to their roots. Amid tremendous anticipation, Team India skipper Rohit Sharma has formally announced that he will be a part of the domestic circuit and make his comeback in the Mumbai Ranji squad.

Rohit Sharma Set For Action In Ranji Trophy, Announces Comeback In  Domestic Cricket

Team India ODI and Test skipper Rohit Sharma will be participating in the Ranji Trophy tournament for Mumbai. The announcement was made during the BCCI's press conference, which was attended by the Indian skipper and chief selector Ajit Agarkar. Mumbai will be in action from January 23 against Jammu and Kashmir, and he will be a part of the squad led by Ajinkya Rahane. In response to a specific question regarding his potential participation in domestic cricket, Rohit said, "Yes, I will play."

The MCA is yet to formally announce the squad, but Rohit Sharma's confirmation assures that he will be a part of the action in the domestic circuit. The last time he competed in a Ranji Trophy match was back in November 2015 against Uttar Pradesh.

Rohit Sharma recently practised with the Mumbai team at the Wankhede Stadium. The batter recently returned from the challenging Border Gavaskar Trophy series, where he struggled to make a mark. After scoring only 31 runs in three test matches, he was forced to withdraw from the series decider in Sydney due to his poor form.

The Team India Test and ODI skipper participated in the MCA squad's morning session. The Mumbai team is preparing for the Ranji Trophy's resumption on January 23, and Rohit has joined them after a turbulent few weeks down under. Rohit's intention to go back to his roots is expected to be fruitful. The skipper also needs to return to his old form as there will be a lot of expectations of Team India in the Champions Trophy.
