Rohit Sharma Stood Up for the Support Staff Getting Less of the ₹125 CR Prize, Noble Act Makes Waves
Rohit Sharma reportedly took a stand for the lower prize disbursement towards the support staff and was reportedly willing to relinquish his bonus for them.

Rohit Sharma has been winning hearts on and off the field. The superstar opening batter and Team India skipper is coming off a grand win at the ICC Men's T20 World Cup 2024 after the Men in Blue defeated South Africa at the Kensington Oval in Bridgetown, Barbados. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) announced a grand prize of ₹125 Crore, which would be disbursed to the entire Indian contingent. All the members are expected to receive a minimum of One Crore, be it the team members, and coaching staff. But skipper Rohit Sharma was reportedly displeased over the disbursement of the prize money to the team's support staff.

Team staff reveals Rohit Sharma was ready to relinquish his bonus prize for support staff members
The ₹125 Crore Prize Money was announced by BCCI Secretary Jay Shah after Team India won the T20 World Cup title and ended the decade-old title drought for the Men in Blue. All the members of the team who travelled to the US and the Caribbean Islands were presented a prize money. The break-up of the ₹125 Crore was also revealed, in which the 15-man squad and Coach Rahul Dravid, who received the highest cash prize of ₹5 Crore. However, as per Dainik Jagran, Rohit was not happy with how much money the support staff received, as he felt that it was much less. Rohit was also ready to give up his bonus for them.

“When the ₹125 CR prize money was distributed, Rohit Sharma raised his voice and said ‘support staff shouldn’t get such less money’. He was even ready to relinquish his own bonus for us,” One of Team India's support staff members told the media outlet.

Apart from Rohit, Rahul Dravid also declined the extra incentive presented to him by the BCCI. The coaching staff are supposed to receive ₹2.5 Crore, but Coach Dravid received a bonus which totalled his cash prize to ₹5 Crore. The outgoing Team India coach declined the bonus as he wants to receive the same amount as his coaching staff. Their generosity has won all the cricket fans' hearts.
