Rohit UNFAIR in Not Allowing KL Rahul to Get to Fifty vs BAN? Aakash Chopra's Sensational Remark

KL Rahul was on 22 when India declared their innings to give Bangladesh 515 to win on the third day, a decision that is now facing the heat. Should Rohit Sharma and Gautam Gambhir have allowed Rahul time to get to a fifty and get some confidence back with so much time left in the Test? Former India opener Aakash Chopra reckoned that with so much time left in the game, the management could have contemplated giving Rahul time to get to the milestone.
‘There Was no Rain Coming’
He said: "One-and-a-half days were left, you have won by 280 runs, you didn't give the follow-on as well, you were not falling short of time, there was no rain coming, so could we have allowed KL Rahul to score 60-70 runs?"
"Since the option was available, you could have given him the chance, because it wouldn't have impacted the overall result of the match. That is point one. It wouldn't have impacted your workload management. When it was not impacting anything, if a player who was on a 19-ball 22 had played for one to one-and-a-quarter hours, it wouldn't have impacted your health," he added.
AS IT HAPPENED
Veteran off-spinner Ravichandran Ashwin 's mastery over his craft, underlined by a six-wicket haul, proved too immense for Bangladesh as India cantered to a massive 280-run victory in the first Test with five sessions to spare.
Maintaining a clean slate against the Asian neighbours, India now lead the two-match series 1-0.
Starting from their overnight 158 for four, Bangladesh were bundled out for 234 in their second innings as Ashwin scythed through their line-up (6/88).
Ravindra Jadeja supported him with a three-wicket haul (3/58).
Skipper Najmul Hossain Shanto waged a lone battle for the visitors with a sparkling 82 (127b, 8x4, 3x6), but there was hardly any meaningful support for him from his colleagues.
The day, however, began on a bright note for the Bangladeshis with Shanto and Shakib Al-Hasan (25) extending their fifth-wicket stand to 48 runs, resisting the Indian bowlers in the first hour.
