Tamim Iqbal eyes to return in action as soon as possible

Tamim announced his departure from international cricket in July. In the end, though, he changed his mind after hearing the pleadings of Bangladesh's revered prime minister, Sheikh Hasina. The chief of the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB), Najmul Hasan Papon, and the 34-year-old Tamim met on Monday to discuss Tamim's future in cricket. During an interview at his home, Tamim reportedly told reporters the following:

I will probably start my cricket game from BPL. Then you might get an idea of what is going on. I would never want to do this without another month, without another month. Dragging things unnecessarily... (I don't want to). I have already made my decision, after many discussions with the board. They told me many things and I have to respect them too.

Let's wait till January, let me play BPL then there will be more discussion hopefully let's see what happens. I would never intentionally pull the thing. I was hoping to tell you about my plans today. But the board president said that he would take some difficult decisions after listening to everyone. I'll wait for that and see what happens.

Tamim Iqbal absent from Bangladesh’s squad for the upcoming series against New Zealand

Bangladesh will not have Tamim Iqbal on their roster for the forthcoming two-match Test series against Tim Southee's New Zealand.

If you saw Tamim's Facebook Live broadcast before the World Cup, you might have seen that he was critical of the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) for making him bat lower in the order. In a rebuttal, Tigers captain Shakib Al Hasan called Tamim's position "childish" and said he wouldn't budge from his demands to meet the team's needs during the World Cup.
