Team India scripted victory on June 29, 2024 as they defeated South Africa by 7 runs in the finals of the ICC men's T20 World Cup. This was India's second T20 World Cup across nine editions in the history of this particular ICC event. As the 'men in blue' landed in India, they were given a grand welcome by the citizens of the country. Be it in Delhi, or Mumbai, wherever the Indian team went, they left a sea of blue behind them.
The wait has finally ended for Rohit Sharma. The former Mumbai Indians (MI) skipper led India in the 2022 T20 World Cup, 2023 WTC Finals and the 2023 ODI World Cup but always ended up on the losing side. No matter how good India were in the tournament, they always faltered in the crucial stages of various ICC events. There was a trophy drought of 11 years, but fortunately for the country, it has now ended. Rohit Sharma is now a World Cup winning captain and his team has brought immense joy to the country.

After India's T20 World Cup victory parade that brought Mumbai to a standstill, Rohit Sharma visited the Board of Control for Cricket In India (BCCI) headquarters in Mumbai to place the T20 World Cup. This is India's second T20 World Cup in the trophy cabinet. Rohit Sharma is also the only cricketer who has won the T20 World Cup both as a player and as a skipper.
The fans of the Indian cricket team never seemed to move on from the heartbreak of the ODI World Cup Finals where India faltered against Australia on their home soil. But the recent T20 World Cup win seemed to have healed the heartbreaks and breathed a new life in the Indian Cricket fans. India are only the third team to win the T20 World Cup two times (2007 & 2024) after England (2010 & 2022) and West Indies (2012 & 2016).
