Rohit Sharma shared an emotional post for his former opening partner and now retired batter Shikhar Dhawan.
Rohit Sharma took to Instagram to share an emotional and heartfelt post for retired cricketer Shikhar Dhawan. Shikhar Dhawan announced his retirement from International and domestic cricket yesterday. One of India's most successful opening pairs, Shikhar Dhawan and Rohit Sharma were a bowlers nightmare.
The opening duo of Rohit Sharma and Shikhar Dhawan have a total of 5148 runs in International cricket which is the fourth-highest for any opening pair. The Indian captain thanked Shikhar Dhawan for making his life easier and paid tribute to the memories the duo made together.

Rohit Sharma shared a heartwarming carousel post for Shikhar Dhawan on social media platform Instagram. Along with multiple photos, Rohit Sharma also wrote an emotional message for Shikhar Dhawan which said, “From sharing rooms to sharing lifetime memories on the field. You always made my job easier from the other end. THE ULTIMATE JATT.”
Rohit referred to Dhawan as ‘The Ultimate Jatt’ due to Dhawan's electric personality and vibrant smile which can be seen on and off the cricket pitch.
The Duo Of Dhawan And Rohit
The duo of Rohit Sharma and Shikhar Dhawan is one of the greatest opening pairs not just in Indian cricket but also in world cricket. The duo first batted together in the 2013 Champions Trophy against South Africa. During this match, the pair put up a partnership of 127 runs against the Proteas.

The opening duo have had several memorable matches between them. One of their most iconic moments together as an opening unit came against Pakistan when both Shikhar and Rohit scored centuries and made a stand of 210 runs. The partnership between the two batting greats was not limited just to ODIs but also showed up in test matches. Apart from this, what set the duo of Sharma and Dhawan apart was the consistency of their performances.
Rohit Sharma and Shikhar Dhawan both had excellent chemistry and complimented each others playing styles. Dhawan last played a match for India in 2022 against Bangladesh.
