Virat Kohli emerges as top searched cricketer in Google's 25-year history, Ronaldo features

Former India captain and one of the biggest cricketing superstars, Virat Kohli is the most googled cricketer in the last 25 years.

Former India captain Virat Kohli is one of the greatest batsmen of the current generation and he can be easily termed the biggest sporting icon to emerge from the country in the present century. Kohli is not only the most followed cricketer in the world but he ranks third on Instagram as the most followed athlete alongside Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi. After witnessing a lean patch for a couple of years, the 35-year-old made an explosive comeback only to break the legendary Sachin Tendulkar's record for most centuries scored in ODI cricket.

Virat Kohli: Most googled cricketer

Virat Kohli, the ICC's Player of the Decade, has emerged as the most searched cricketer in Google's 25-year history. Google recently released a video to celebrate the company's 25 years of existence. It featured the most searched everything in the past 25 years and Virat Kohli was the only cricketer on the list. The video featured Virat Kohli's century celebration moment for Royal Challengers Bangalore in the IPL and showed him as the most searched cricketer.

Meanwhile, Portuguese footballer Cristiano Ronaldo emerged as the top-searched athlete on the list. Check out the video that Google shared on its social media handles on December 11. 

India vs South Africa

Virat Kohli will next be seen in action during the two-match Test series against South Africa later this month. The series will be played in the African country from December 26 to January 7. Earlier, Kohli requested the BCCI to rest him from the white-ball leg of the South Africa series. India captain Rohit Sharma has also skipped white-ball matches to keep himself ready for the challenging Tests.
