David Warner had a narrow escape as he ended up saving his wicket at the non-striker's end during the clash between Sunrisers Hyderabad and Kings XI Punjab at the IS Bindra Stadium on Monday.

The incident happened in the seventh over of Hyderabad's innings which was bowled by KXIP skipper Ravichandran Ashwin. He bowled one around Vijay Shankar's leg stump who flicked the ball to the leg side for a single. However, what ended up being a standout feature was that of David Warner having come down the wicket and then dragging his bat inside just when Ashwin was about to deliver the ball and thus, ended up saving himself from becoming yet another victim of 'Mankading'.

The 'Mankading' incident has been the biggest talking point in the ongoing edition of IPL. Kings XI Punjab skipper Ravichandran Ashwin had 'Mankaded' Jos Buttler to run him out during the season opener against Rajasthan Royals. He ended up receiving a lot of criticisms from the Cricketing fraternity for his act. Nonetheless, the veteran off-spinner had complete faith in himself as he was of the opinion that he had played as per the spirit of the game and had not indulged in any unlawful act.

Meanwhile, Punjab had invited Sunrisers Hyderabad to bat first after winning the toss. Ashwin's decision was spot on as they got the wicket of the dangerous Jonny Bairstow early. But, David Warner and Vijay Shankar kept SRH's scoreboard ticking as the duo added 49 runs for the second wicket. The 2016 champions lost two quick wickets in the middle overs but Warner soldiered on. The explosive Australian opening batsman then added 55 runs with Manish Pandey for the fifth wicket. Warner remained unbeaten after scoring a 62-ball 70 at a strike rate of 112.90 including six boundaries and a six. His innings helped SRH get to a fighting total of 150/4 in their 20 overs.
