Kings XI Punjab beat Chennai Super Kings by six wickets at the Punjab Cricket Association Stadium on Sunday to register a consolation win and end their season on a high note. Post their win, KXIP's two batting superstars Chris Gayle and KL Rahul were seen having a discussion with each other.

KL Rahul took the initiative of asking the first question and he asked Gayle about his new look (referring to his hairstyle).

"Well, it was the last game so I decided to let loose and wanted to bring the lion out. But guess what? KL was the lion today (referring to Rahul's match-winning knock) and it wasn't Chris Gayle, said Gayle.

At the same time, the 'Universe Boss' also added that he wanted to have some fun, play with freedom as the team had nothing to lose.

Rahul then bowled a bouncer to Gayle by asking how he felt batting with him. The West Indian power-hitter first had a hearty laugh and then showered praises on the young Indian batsman.

"You are one of the best opening partners that I have ever had. We've had some great outstanding partnerships. Our communication between the wickets has been fantastic."

Gayle then wished him luck and hoped that Rahul will be the next Indian superstar. The Jamaican all-rounder also wished Rahul good luck for the World Cup.

Even the netizens came forward to hail KL Rahul for his blockbuster batting performance in the tournament.

Chasing a target of 171, the hosts started attacking right from the word 'Go' as their explosive openers Chris Gayle and KL Rahul ensured a steady start for the 2014 finalists. However, it was Rahul who took the attack to the bowlers as the West Indian power-hitter played second fiddle on this occasion. The duo added 108 runs for the opening stand and bought Punjab on the cusp of victory. Nonetheless, they could not finish off the game as both were dismissed off successive deliveries in the 11th over by Harbhajan Singh. Nonetheless, Nicolas Pooran's vital cameo helped Punjab get over the line.

Earlier, Kings XI Punjab skipper Ravichandran Ashwin had won the toss and elected to bowl first. Opener Faf du Plessis scored a superb 55-ball 96. The South African skipper stitched in a 120-run stand with Suresh Raina (53). Faf fell short of a well-deserved ton when he was yorked by English all-rounder Sam Curran in the penultimate over. His innings and Raina's supporting knock helped CSK get to a good total of 170/5 in their 20 overs.
