Ian Chappell made a huge statement about David Warner ahead of the 3rd Test vs PAK

Opening batsman David Warner has received high appreciation from former Australian captain Ian Chappell for his unique style of play as he prepares for his final Test match against Pakistan at the Sydney Cricket Ground (SCG), which begins on January 3. With an incredible innings of 164 in the opening Test in Perth, the 37-year-old Warner demonstrated his abilities and helped the home team take a 1-0 lead in the series. Warner put in a very quiet effort in the second Test, but it didn't matter because Australia won and had a commanding 2-0 lead going into the last one.

Speaking to World Wide of Sports before to Warner's last Test, Chappell concentrated on the opener's unmatched history and playing style rather than discussing Warner's all-time ranking. Ian Chappell  said:

“If you're an opener, as soon as you fail once or twice, it's always 'mate, perhaps you should steady down a bit. Rankings are a load of bulls--- in my opinion. Could the bloke play? Bloody oath he could play. Was he one of the better players? Sure. Where did he rank? Who knows and who cares,”

“Very few players - and when I say very few, in my memory in the Australian Test side - have had the skill and the guts to play aggressively against the new ball and succeed. I don't think many people understand how courageous it is, because you will always get someone telling you how to play when you fail - it doesn't matter where you bat,”
