Will Jasprit Bumrah Miss Entire IPL 2025 Season For Mumbai Indians? Status Update

IPL 2025: Jasprit Bumrah is easily one of the best fast bowlers of this generation and his absence is bound to hurt the MI side at some point this season. For the unversed, MI have lost their season opener against Chennai Super Kings and would love to register a win and get their campaign going, but that will not be easy sans Bumrah. The pace spearhead is a proven match-winner and hence every game he misses would hurt the franchise.

When Will Bumrah Join MI? 

There is no official clarity over when he would join the side and that is the problem. He has not been playing international cricket since he picked up the back spasm and had to leave midway during the Sydney Test. Since that game in Australia, he has not featured in a single international game. There were whispers he may feature in the Champions Trophy , but that did not happen. Earlier reports claimed that he has started bowling at the BCCI Centre of Excellence, but is yet to regain full fitness.

Bumrah's Downfall

Most reckoned he was over-bowled in Australia during the Border-Gavaskar Trophy and that led to his downfall.

He was the standout performer for India in that Test series, picking up 32 wickets. On most occasions, he was fighting a lone battle. According to ESPNCricinfo, he bowled 24.4 per cent of India’s overs and took 40 per cent of their wickets. Fans who saw the BGT, would know the workload he had to undertake in the absence of Mohammed Shami. 

Fans would be praying for his return to action soon. Not just the IPL, India also play an important series against England in England in a Test series and Bumrah would be needed. It would be interesting to see when he returns to playing cricket. 

MI play their next game against GT on March 29 in Ahmedabad.
