As Team India faces Sri Lanka in a T20I series in Pallekele, a lot of attention will remain upon Suryakumar Yadav, who will be leading the side. SKY was announced as the T20I skipper over the preferred Hardik Pandya, which has caused a lot of stir. A former Team India cricketer has recently offered his take on Suryakumar taking the reins in place of Hardik and shared his analysis on the former number-one-ranked T20I batter.

Former team India opener Robin Uthappa has showered praise on Suryakumar Yadav, calling him a fantastic batter and a crucial member of the Indian squad. He carried out by noting that while SKY has been an amazing hitter, it remains to be seen what sort of leader he will eventually serve as.
"I think it's a start. Something new post the World Cup. I think it's an important start for India. They played in Zimbabwe, but I think traveling with the team and being the first tour of any coach or any leadership group...will take time to settle down. I think as fans, supporters and lovers of Indian cricket, we need to give them that time to kind of settle down and fall into a rhythm. I think this one's going to be an exciting tour to just see how the team kind of functions individually in this new infrastructure.
"I don't think we should be comparing it. We are yet to discover the kind of leader Surya will be. Suryakumar Yadav has been an incredible batter and someone who's been such an important cog in this Indian cricket team, especially in T20 cricket, one of the best T20 batters in the world, arguably ever," the 38-year-old Robin Uthappa told ANI.

Suryakumar Yadav's intellect will be put up to Test when Team India will lock horns against Sri Lanka in Pallekele for the three-match T20I series. It will be Gautam Gambhir's first assignment as the head coach, and they will look to impress against one of the Asian Cricket Giants in the away series.
