Pat Cummins became the fifth Australian captain to lay his hands on the coveted ODI World Cup trophy. Australia defeated India by six wickets in a one sided World Cup final to lift the trophy for the sixth time at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad on Sunday. This is India's second loss against Australia in an ODI World Cup final with the previous being back in 2003.

Australia cruised to a six wicket win over India in World Cup final
It was an all-round performance from the mighty Australians who stood tall on the day when it mattered the most. Pat Cummins won the toss and decided to bowl first on a slowish Ahmedabad surface which proved to be the right decision. Led by the lethal Mitchell Starc, the Aussie bowling lineup ripped apart the home side as India could only manage a paltry 240 runs on the board.

Despite some early hiccups, the visitors managed to stabilise their innings as Travis Head and Marnus Labuschagne had it easy against the Indian bowlers. After the ODI World Cup final, as per the ICC ritual Pat Cummins posed at the Sabarmati riverfront with the elusive trophy in his hands.

Australia will face India in a five-match T20I series
Australia will pocket a whopping $4 million for winning the ODI World Cup while the Men in Blue will be richer by $2 million for finishing as the runner-up. The Aussies will not be leaving India anytime soon as both teams will now take part in a five-match T20I series starting from November 23.
