Team India created history when they displayed a resilient performance to clinch victory over South Africa in the thrilling final of the 2024 ICC Men’s T20 World Cup on June 29, 2024. Setting a target of 177, India's skipper Rohit Sharma’s early departure seemed to boost South Africa's morale. However, a determined Virat Kohli rose to the occasion with a stellar 76 off 59 balls. In response, South Africa fell short by 7 runs despite a valiant innings by Heinrich Klaasen. Player of the Match, Kohli's exceptional batting combined with Bumrah's impactful bowling sealed India's triumph, ending a long wait for the prestigious title.

Dinesh Karthik heaps praise on Jasprit Bumrah calls him the ‘GREATEST’ at the moment

Jasprit Bumrah is much praised for his vital part in India's T20 World Cup triumph. With his outstanding performance, Bumrah—who is the Player of the Tournament—ended India's ICC title drought that started since 2013. He was the best bowler in the event, always performing well independent of circumstances or conditions. With 15 wickets in 8 matches and an amazing economy rate of 4.18—notable statistics that made him the most impacting bowler.

In the last, Bumrah changed the tide when South Africa appeared set for triumph. Reintroduced into the attack in the 16th over, South Africa needing 30 runs off the last five overs, he surrendered only six runs in his last two overs (16th and 18th) and grabbed Marco Jansen's wicket, therefore turning the tide in India's favour which made him the most crucial bowler of the match.

Veteran wicketkeeper Dinesh Karthik praised Bumrah, comparing him to a Kohinoor diamond and declaring him the best bowler across all forms. Speaking to Cricbuzz, Dinesh Karthik said:

“When I was on air, I said he is more valuable than a Kohinoor diamond. Genuinely, he is the greatest all-format bowler at the moment in world cricket. Under pressure to come and keep performing time and time again, not many can do that,”

“He’s a captain’s dream—someone who wins at any stage, any play of the match—that’s what makes him so special. Brilliant, fantabulous—that’s the word for him,”
