IND vs BAN: Team India practices before the Bangladesh match

Notable cricketers, including Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, and Hardik Pandya, were all present during the practice session, which took place 48 hours before their fourth World Cup game against Bangladesh. Interestingly, during the innings break of the Netherlands vs South Africa match, Star Sports broadcast a film of India's practice session.

Rohit Sharma was bowling to Ravindra Jadeja in this video from Pune. This piqued the interest of former Indian cricketer Sanjay Manjrekar. Manjrekar initially had a positive reaction, speculating that the skipper, Rohit, would consider offering some off-spin overs in the upcoming match against Bangladesh. He also brought out the restricted bowling options among the major batsmen, underscoring a difference from previous Indian squads.

Sanjay Manjrekar made a huge statement ahead of India vs Bangladesh

“Now that is a picture! He said that in the press conference which he had even started talking about at the start of the tournament but now we aren't because India are performing well, but it is always good to have a batsman who knows how to bowl. He has a lovely action. That is great with Rohit Sharma, the talent he possesses. And maybe India are looking for additional help with the bowling so that they can continue to have the same balance and have 3-4 overs of off-spin, especially against teams like Bangladesh who have at least 4-5 left-handers in their top 7,”

After bowling a couple of deliveries, Rohit Sharma went up to Ravichandran Ashwin and struck up a chat. Legendary spinner Ashwin, according to Sanjay Manjrekar, was probably giving his captain advice on how to bowl. Even though it appeared that this exchange was helpful, Manjrekar expressed worry that Ashwin's advice-giving to Rohit would have an unintended negative effect on his prospects of being included in the starting lineup.

“It looks like they don't want to play Ashwin which is a big call because one of the seam bowlers will have to be dropped and they don't like Hardik being the third bowler. And this is Ashwin giving tips to Rohit and helping him to keep Ashwin out of the game in a way,”

R Ashwin has only made one appearance in the ICC ODI World Cup 2023, which was in the opener against Australia. It will be interesting to see if the legendary bowler starts against Bangladesh on Thursday.
