Rohit Sharma makes a huge statement ahead of IND vs SL

On November 2, 2023, in Mumbai's Wankhede Stadium, Rohit Sharma will captain the Indian national cricket team in a World Cup match for the first time(on the venue). The legendary ground, where Rohit learned the game as a child holds big emotions for him. India defeated Sri Lanka and won the 2011 Cricket World Cup. Under Rohit's guidance, India is just one win away from earning a semi-final spot at the 2023 World Cup. One terrible game, however, may destroy the hopes of 1.5 billion people. India, the most consistent team in ICC events, hasn't won an ICC trophy in 10 years. Critics of Rohit's leadership have noted that he has benched important players like Jasprit Bumrah and Ravindra Jadeja. With India fully operational again, Rohit is aware there is no room for excuses. He said:

"It's not my thought process (that India is enjoying a dream run), it's the team's thought process that the guys comply with. When things look good, everything looks good, everything works well. I know how this whole thing works. I'm quite aware of one game here and there, I know suddenly I'll be a bad captain. I know how it works. I try and do what is necessary from the team's perspective and be sure of that,"
