Irfan Pathan picked up his best World Cup XI

Former Indian fast bowler and eminent commentator Irfan Pathan picked up his best 2023 ODI World Cup XI, where Indian players dominate the list. Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, Jasprit Bumrah, Mohammed Shami and Jasprit Bumrah have been selected for the main team while Shreyas Iyer made his way as the 12th man. The other players are South African opener Quinton de Kock, New Zealand duo Daryl Mitchell and Rachin Ravindra, Australia's Glenn Maxwell and Adam Zampa, South African players Marco Janesen and Gerald Coetzee.

Rohit Sharma's fearless batting provided India a grand stage in almost every match while Virat Kohli looked solid with each match passing. In bowling Mohammed Shami and Jasprit Bumrah maintained their sharpness but in the final, it was clearly a different story as Australia emerged victorious with better performance on the day.

Only two Australians found their name on Irfan Pathan's ‘Team of the Tournament’. Glenn Maxwell's brilliant double century against Afghanistan could easily be the best innings of the tournament while Adam Zampa emerged as the best Aussie bowler with 23 scalps.

On the other side, Daryl Mitchell failed to bail his country in the crucial semifinal against India despite scoring a brilliant hundred. Rachin Ravindra's batting prowess means the Kiwis might have got a solid replacement for Kane Williamson in the future.

For South Africa, both Gerald Coetzee and Marco Jansen were terrific especially the latter one as the lanky left-hander also batted beautifully in the ODI World Cup.
