Rishabh Pant will wear the India jersey for the first T20 World Cup match on June 5 at Nassau County International Cricket Stadium, 527 days after his life-threatening catastrophe. Pant donned the Delhi Capitals jersey on March 23 this year when he made a profound comeback from the tragic vehicle accident in 2022, but he is more excited to wear a different shade of blue — the India Blue. The stumper has been training for this moment for a long time, and he is looking forward to the first match against Ireland.

Rishabh Pant excited to be back for Team India, says it's a different feeling to be back for the squad

Rishabh Pant was seen travelling with the first phase of the players from the Mumbai airport. While in the United States, the team has been taking up training as they prepare for the World Cup warm-ups and then move towards the group stage matches. As the wicketkeeper-batter returned to the national side, Pant expressed his excitement to return to the Men in Blue and revealed that he wants to make it count.

"Getting back on the field with an Indian jersey on is a different feeling altogether. This is something I missed a lot... Hopefully, I (can) make it count and make it better from here.

"Seeing the team here and meeting them again, spending time, having fun with them, having a conversation with them, I really enjoyed," Pant told BCCI.TV on the sidelines of India's first net session ahead of the warm-up game against Bangladesh on June 1.

Pant, who underwent an intensive 15-month rehabilitation at the National Cricket Academy, was joined by colleague Suryakumar Yadav during this conversation and recalled how his presence helped him cope with the loneliness of his injury management plan at the NCA. Pant gradually regains his form after returning to the IPL and scoring 446 runs in 13 games. The thinner and fitter Pant appeared in good shape at the India nets at Cantiague Park on the outskirts of New York City.
