Chasing a score of 97 runs, Victory was in the bag for India and it was a matter of by how many wickets they will win the match. The opening pair of Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma could not go beyond contributing 22 runs together. Kohli's early departure brought Rishabh Pant to the crease at number 3. Pant showed positive intent from the outset. He formed a 69-run stand with Rohit Sharma, who successfully completed yet another fifty. As a formality was required in the end, Pant stepped up and played a memorable glory shot to take India past the target.
