Pakistan's struggle in the ODI World Cup 2023 continued as they were wrapped for a score of 270 runs against South Africa in Chennai. Apart from captain Babar Azam and Saud Shakeel, the Pakistani batters were dismissed cheaply during the South Africa vs Pakistan CWC 2023 match. Proteas spinner Tabraiz Shamsi picked up a four-wicket haul and broke the back of the Pakistani batting lineup.

SA vs PAK: Tabraiz Shamsi performs a 'namaste celebration after dismissing Afridi
South African left-arm wrist spinner Tabraiz Shamsi played an important role in wrapping up Pakistan in the first innings. The SA spinner removed Pakistani batters such as skipper Babar Azam, Iftikhar Ahmed, Saud Shakeel and Shaheen Shah Afridi. As the ODI World Cup is being held in India, South Africa's leading T20I wicket-taker performed a ‘namaste’ celebration during the PAK vs SA clash match. Shamsi greeted fellow South African team-mate Keshav Maharaj with the gesture.
South African spinner Keshav Maharaj has a strong connection with India and his forefathers belonged to the Uttar Pradesh, who later moved to South Africa. Maharaj is also seen posting religious captions on his Instagram posts which often depict his love for India.

South Africa vs Pakistan: SA dismisses PAK for 270 runs
The Pakistan cricket team started as usual and lost both the openers for a score of 38 runs. Imam-ul-Haq departed for 12 whereas Abdullah Shafique was only able to score 9 runs. South African pacer Marco Jansen provided his team with the early breakthrough and removed both the Pakistani openers. Skipper Babar Azam and Mohammad Rizwan tried to balance the innings but after their departure, the team faced a collapse and at last were bundled for 270 runs. Apart from Tabraiz Shamsi's 4-wicket haul, Marco Jansen picked up 3 wickets.

The South African cricket team is one of the top-performing teams in the ODI World Cup 2023 so far and has already won four out of five games. The Proteas have displayed tremendous batting performance in the tournament so far and opener Quinton de Kock is the top run scorer in the World Cup. The bowling has also done well and except for the match against the Netherlands, the Proteas have not disappointed with their performance in the tournament so far.
