The defending champions England had a wobbly start losing to New Zealand by 9 wickets, however, they quickly channeled their dominant side against Bangladesh in the second match, but the third match proved to be a disaster.

Considering how the pitch at the Arun Jaitley Stadium has fared so far, the target of 286 was seen as well within the reach of England, but on the day it was a fiasco from the batting department. "Wonderful all-round effort by Afghanistan led by a solid knock from Rahmanullah Gurbaz. Bad day for England cricket. Against quality spinners, you have to read them from their hand, which the England batters failed to do. They read them off the pitch instead, which I felt led to their downfall. Loved the energy they carried on the field.  Well played Afghanistan!" Tendulkar wrote on X.
