As they officially start their campaign in the ICC Men's T20 World Cup 2024, Team India arrived to the United States with the intention of going back to their winning ways and ending the longstanding title drought. In their first group-stage match, the Rohit Sharma-led Men in Blue trounced Ireland, easily chasing the stipulated score. The Nassau County International Cricket Stadium's tracks, however, generated controversy following two low-scoring games during the ICC Men's T20 World Cup 2024. The Team India camp appears to believe that the track is unsuitable for short forms like Twenty20 Internationals, based on the overwhelming criticism the pitch has received.

The Indian team management is unlikely to lodge an official complaint to ICC about the Nassau County Stadium's track's characteristics, but it is evident that they are unhappy with it. Some spectators have described the track as “semi-dangerous” and “unfit for T20 cricket.”
“It is actually a very fresh pitch. There is a fair grass cover but along with it are big cracks. So it will seam but also take off from length.

"Now when you have a fresh track like this, you first try out a few games like you do beta testing with a new app. Then you release it in the market. It is not a T20 wicket and all four tracks look same,” a person with intimate ties to the Indian team stated after taking a good look at the track following the match.

In their match against Ireland, Team India bowled brilliantly, keeping their opponents below 100 runs before they could score more. The Indian cricket team encountered some early batting end issues while they were batting second. After Virat Kohli cheaply dismissed Rohit Sharma, the latter had to hobble out. Ultimately, though, Rohit and his squad defeated Ireland in their first group-stage match at the ICC Men's T20 World Cup. The Men in Blue's next game is scheduled for Nassau County Stadium in New York against their bitter rivals, Pakistan.
