Shiv Sena Uddhav faction demands cancellation of IND vs PAK game, writes to PM Modi
India and Pakistan could face each other in the semi-finals or the final of the T20 World Cup 2024 if the Men in Green manages to advance further.
The Uddhav Thackeray faction of the nationalist Shiv Sena party has called for the cancellation of the cricket match between India and Pakistan in the ongoing T20 World Cup 2024. This comes in the wake of an attack on civilians and Army officials in Jammu and Kashmir. The Shiv Sena (UBT) has written a letter to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Home Minister Amit Shah, Union Sports Minister Mansukh Mandaviya, and the BCCI, urging them to look into the demand.

Shiv Sena UBT calls for the cancellation of IND vs PAK game
India and Pakistan have already faced off in the group stage of the T20 World Cup 2024, with India securing a thrilling victory by defeating Pakistan by 6 runs. This match coincided with significant events back home, including an attack on a bus in Jammu and Kashmir's Reasi and Prime Minister Narendra Modi's swearing-in ceremony.
India and Pakistan could face each other in the semi-finals or the final of the T20 World Cup 2024 if the Men in Green manages to advance further. India have already qualified for the Super 8 stage of the competition. However, Shiv Sena UBT leader Anand Dubey believes that India should take a hard stance on playing against Pakistan in the latter stage of the T20 World Cup 2024.
"India should cancel the cricket match with Pakistan in view of ongoing violence," Shiv Sena (UBT) spokesperson Anand Dubey said in his letter.

The undivided Shiv Sena was known to fiercely oppose India-Pakistan fixtures and its activists had once dug up the pitch at Wankhede stadium here ahead of a match with Pakistan.
A CRPF jawan was killed and six security personnel were injured in two overnight encounters with terrorists in Kathua and Doda districts of Jammu and Kashmir two days ago.
Before that, nine people were killed and 33 injured as terrorists struck a bus carrying pilgrims from Uttar Pradesh in Jammu and Kashmir's Reasi district on Sunday evening, opening fire on the vehicle which fell into a gorge.
