Shubman Gill was picked as a part of travelling reserves in Team India's squad for the T20 World Cup 2024. However, mid way through the tournament the Gujarat Titans skipper was relieved from his duties and no reasons were cited for his release.  

There were rumours that Shubman Gill violated disciplinary protocols which prompted his exit from the Indian camp in T20 World Cup. However, Shubman Gill's recent actions after being released from Team India squad might surprise you.

Shubman Gill's actions after being released from Team India

After being released from Team India, Shubman Gill is chilling out and relaxing during his time off. Gill hasn't come back to India, instead he is enjoying his time in USA with friends. 

Shubman Gill took to his Instagram to share that he was in the stands at SOFI stadium in Los Angeles watching the Copa America 2024 clash between Brazil and Costa Rica.

Brail were held to a shock goalless draw in their opening Group D matchup at Copa America and Shubman Gill watched from the stands. Gill shared snaps from the match on Social Media.

Shubman Gill to lead Team India vs Zimbabwe

Upon the conclusion of T20 World Cup 2024, India will tour Zimbabwe for a five match T20I series. Shubman Gill has been named captaion for Team India vs Zimbabwe and it will be his first assignment leading the men in blue. 

Gill will oversee a squad filled of youngsters like Nitish Reddy, Avesh Khan and Abhishekh Sharma. The selectors have decided to rest stalwarts post the T20 World Cup and it gives young players a great opportunity to get their first taste of Indian cap. 

England await in the Semi Finals of T20 World Cup 2024 for India

Rohit Sharma led Team India have advanced to the semi finals of T20 World Cup 2024 as the top seed in Super 8 after their dominant victory over Australia. In the semi finals they will face England once again on Thursday, June 27, 2024.
