The Kane Williamson-led BlackCaps had a forgetful campaign in the ICC Men's T20 World Cup 2024 after they failed to qualify for the Super 8 stage. The Kiwis ended their campaign against Papua New Guinea, where Boult put his foot on the pitch for probably the last time in national colours. In his final T20 World Cup match, Boult pulled off impressive numbers as he scalped two for just 14 runs in his four-over spell against Papua New Guinea.
Boult looked back on his career with a mixture of delight and remorse in his mid-inning remarks. He treasured the privilege of serving his nation even though he was disappointed not to go farther in the competition.
"It's a little bit weird. I wanted to sign off with the yorker. I am proud of what I have done in the Black Cap. Just gutted we're not going any further. Any time you get to represent the country, it's a proud moment," Trent Boult said after the end of the first innings.

It looks like Boult may have played out his final T20 World Cup match, but he still may have some juice left in him and feature for the national side before riding off into the sunset.
Despite setting records in their consolation victory, New Zealand's campaign ultimately proved to be disappointing as they were unable to live up to their potential and establish themselves as a stronger side in order to advance to the Super 8 stage.
