IND vs ENG: Virat Kohli expressed his disappointment after being dismissed for a duck in the Cricket World Cup 2023 match against England in Lucknow on Sunday. The in-form Indian cricket team batter faced his first-ever duck in an ODI World Cup match, giving his wicket to his Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) teammate, David Willey. Kohli mistimed a short delivery from Willey, and Ben Stokes took a straightforward catch at mid-off. A viral video on social media showed Kohli visibly upset, punching the dressing room sofa in frustration.

Clearly and understandably, the former India skipper was filled with anger towards himself, particularly because he had his sights set on equaling Sachin Tendulkar's record for the most ODI hundreds in this match. As he returned to the dressing room, the camera captured Virat Kohli's visible frustration. He expressed his anger by venting it on the dressing room sofa, delivering a couple of punches.

England vs India

Jos Buttler, the England skipper, won the toss and chose to field against India. Batting first, India lost a few early wickets before Rohit Sharma and KL Rahul forged a crucial partnership. They scored 91 runs together before KL Rahul was dismissed for 39 off 58 balls. Rohit was then removed for 87 off 101 balls. Suryakumar Yadav smashed a crucial 49 runs toward the backend of the Indian innings.

David Willey picked up a three-wicket haul in the match. Chris Woakes and Adil Rashid took wickets each. India posted 229/9 in 50 overs. England have already lost four wickets in their chase and are in trouble. The Indian team aims to maintain their unbeaten streak in the ongoing ODI World Cup, while England are looking for a comeback, with their hopes of reaching the semi-finals hinging on the outcome of this match. England are currently at the bottom of the points table.
